LSN Developing the workforce - ITQ IT Skills resources contextualised for Teachers, Student Services & LRC Staff

Introduction

ITQ is now an established IT user qualification and training package that was created to ensure staff are trained in exactly the IT skills they need to carry out their roles. It is primarily aimed at ICT users and not professional IT staff and allows different units to be taken at different levels. With the help of LSC funding LSN has already produced, and distributed to FE colleges, an ITQ resource pack and also a separate package of subject specific ITQ resources. Both sets of resources were created by practitioners in the post-16 sector and made available by LSN to support the development of staff ICT user skills. The resources have been aligned to the ITQ qualification to allow both teaching staff and those who directly support teaching and learning to acquire those skills in context. Visit http://www.learningtechnologies.ac.uk for further information and links regarding these previous materials.

New materialsTo further support practitioners in the post 16 sector, a new series of projects were commissioned which aimed to develop role specific activities and resources. The specific focus of these projects was to develop and collate resources and activities that are directly relevant and useful to LRC and Student Services staff, as well as teachers. A new series of interactive tutorials have also been produced to compliment those tutorials already available with the previous packs.

The material here has been organised into these role-based sections but clearly many of the resources represent concepts and skills relevant to anyone working in post-compulsory education, so whatever your role do check out all 3 sets of resources and tutorials as well as those previously released.
