GETTING STARTED – ADVANCED CATALOGUE SEARCHING

In the previous unit we examined how to undertake a general search of an LRC catalogue in order to locate resources that would be of use to you in your assignment planning.

However, assignments (like buses!) tend to come in two’s and three’s so to successfully balance all the work that needs doing, with all the other demands on your time i.e. work and socializing! It is important to further develop your research skills.

If you have a number of deadlines to meet, and your searches have thrown up lots of lots of resources to choose from, is there a way to make your research time more efficient? The answer quite simply is yes! And that is by using some advanced search techniques.
