Student Loan Repayments:
Loans attract a very low rate of interest - at inflation levels (3.2% in Sept '05).
The tuition fee loan and maintenance loan are combined into one loan, repayable after graduation when you start earning over £15,000 per year. Deductions are usually made through the PAYE tax system and are linked to your earnings, so the more you earn the more you repay; the less you earn the less you repay. As an example, someone earning £20,000 a year would repay £8.65 a week (£37.50 a month).
