Copying Graphics in PowerPoint

To copy a graphic.

• Open PowerPoint
• Create a simple presentation, or open one you want to copy a graphic in
• Insert or create a graphic, if required

There are 3 methods to copy graphics. 

Method 1

• Make sure the graphic is selected by clicking on it
• From the menu bar, click Edit, Copy, as figure 1-1

• Position the cursor where you want your copy to appear
• From the menu bar click on Edit, Paste, as figure 1-2

Note: The image may not appear where you want it and therefore you will have to move it to the required position.

Method 2

This has the same method as method 1, but the menus are brought up by using right clicking the mouse.

• Make sure the object is selected by clicking on it
• While the cursor is still over the graphic, right click the mouse

A pop-up menu will appear similar to figure 1-1

• Click Copy
• Position the cursor where you want the graphic to appear
• Right click the mouse again to bring up the pop-up menu
• Click Paste

Method 3

• Click on the graphic to select it
• Hold down the Control key on the keyboard

The Control key will be found at the bottom left-hand side of the keyboard and will look similar to figure 1-3

• Drag the object to one side and release the mouse button

You will find you now have 2 graphics.  To make further copies simply repeat the procedure.

As with most things in computing the choice of copying is a matter of preference, there is no right or wrong regarding the method you use.

Exit PowerPoint when you have finished experimenting.  There is no need save the file.
