Cropping Images using Microsoft Photo Editor

Unwanted areas of images can be removed by using the crop option.

I will demonstrate cropping an image by using an existing file.  You can use one of your own if you want to follow how it is done.

Tip:  A word of warning, before you start tampering with precious photos, it is important that you make a copy of them, by using Save As from the File menu ensures that you have the original to refer back to.  Or you can always use the Undo option to remove any unwanted effect.

If you want more options you can click on Image, Crop from the menu bar, to bring up the Crop window, as Figure 1-4

In this window you can change a number of options that allow you to crop the image, to make it look like a framed photo.

Mat margins – allows you to adjust the amount of white margin around the image

Crop margins – allows you to adjust the exact amount off image you want to remove in any direction

Oval – creates an oval crop

Corners – allows you to nip the corners off your image.  You can set the amount you want to remove and the way it is done (square, round, cut, fillet, ear)

Exit Photo Editor when you have finished experimenting.  There is no need to save the file.
